Viktor Hovland secured the 2025 Valspar Championship title with a stellar 4-under 67 at the Copperhead Course, edging out Justin Thomas by a single stroke. The Norwegian golfer, known for his relentless focus, admitted post-victory that he prioritizes golf above all else. His win at Innisbrook marks a crucial comeback after a slow start to the season.

Speaking at the champion’s press conference, Hovland acknowledged his intense dedication to golf, stating he lacks time or energy for other pursuits. He admitted to putting in “80 percent” effort into non-golf aspects, accepting imperfection outside the sport. Despite this, his commitment to continuous improvement remains evident, reinforcing his perfectionist approach to the game.

Hovland also addressed his caddie Shay Knight’s “perfectionist” label, agreeing that putting his heart into golf is essential. He expressed surprise that striving for excellence is sometimes seen negatively, emphasizing that professional athletes are meant to improve and win. His Valspar triumph ends a year-long title drought, reestablishing him as a dominant force in the PGA Tour.
