Former U.S. President Donald Trump has provided an important update on the potential merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf following recent discussions. On February 20, Trump met with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, Player Directors Adam Scott and Tiger Woods, and PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan. The meeting focused on advancing the long-debated agreement between the circuits, which have been in negotiations since June 2023.

During a White House dinner on February 22, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis questioned Trump about the status of the deal. Trump expressed optimism, stating there was a “good chance” of the merger happening. The PGA Tour later released a statement affirming its commitment to a swift resolution, emphasizing the importance of reuniting the world’s top golfers. However, no definitive agreement has been reached.

Meanwhile, reports suggest LIV Golf players may soon be allowed to compete in PGA Tour events. Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard recently revealed that an unnamed LIV golfer suggested participation in the 2025 Players Championship could be possible. Despite the ongoing ban, LIV golfers remain eligible for major championships and other global events, signaling potential shifts in the competitive landscape.
