World No. 1 Nelly Korda mounted a strong challenge at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open, ultimately finishing tied for second in her 11th appearance at the major championship, hosted this year at Erin Hills Golf Course.

Korda entered Sunday’s final round three strokes behind leader Maja Stark, after posting rounds of 72, 67, and 73. Despite the demanding conditions, she remained within striking distance throughout the day.

After birdieing the first hole, Korda traded pars and bogeys before rebounding with consecutive birdies on holes 7 and 8, momentarily tying for second place with Japan’s Mao Saigo and Hinako Shibuno.

She briefly held solo second after a birdie at 14, but couldn’t close the gap on Stark. Despite falling just short, Korda’s performance reaffirmed her dominance at the top of the Rolex Rankings.
