Jordan Spieth has stepped down from his role on the PGA Tour policy board, with Camilo Villegas taking his place. Spieth briefly attended the latest meeting to finalize governance matters but left early, indicating he is no longer involved in board discussions.

Despite his departure, Spieth shared insights on potential changes to the Tour Championship format. Discussions include replacing the current staggered strokes system with a bracket-style match play format to enhance fan engagement and ensure a dramatic finish. He emphasized that the goal is to create a more exciting and easily understandable tournament structure.

Spieth also addressed Rory McIlroy’s call for fewer tournaments, acknowledging that many recent PGA Tour changes have been reactionary. He believes ongoing adjustments will shape the Tour’s future, balancing elite competition with opportunities for rising players. While stepping away from decision-making, Spieth remains interested in the evolution of professional golf’s structure.
