Emma Raducanu Withdraws from ASB Classic 2025 Due to Injury
Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the ASB Classic 2025 in Auckland due to a lower back injury. This setback raises concerns about her readiness for the upcoming Australian Open.

Raducanu had hinted at the issue during her pre-tournament press conference but remained hopeful of competing. Despite the tournament director granting her a delayed start to recover, Raducanu confirmed her inability to participate, expressing disappointment and gratitude to Auckland fans in her official statement.

Her persistent efforts to train and rehabilitate, as noted by tournament director Nicolas Lamperin, were ultimately unsuccessful, marking yet another injury-related obstacle in her career.

This marks the second time in three years that injuries have disrupted Raducanu’s campaign at the ASB Classic, echoing her ankle injury in 2023. Raducanu’s 2024 season was similarly marred by physical setbacks, including surgeries and recurring injuries that forced her to miss key tournaments and parts of the tour.

While she achieved notable moments, such as a fourth-round finish at Wimbledon and an undefeated run at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, her recurring injuries have become a troubling pattern. As fans and analysts speculate on her future, Raducanu’s resilience remains a testament to her determination to overcome these challenges.
