Sam Kerr’s parents, Roger and Roxanne, have flown to London to support her as she prepares for trial. The Australian football star faces allegations of racially harassing a police officer. Legal experts suggest a possible last-minute resolution before the trial begins.

The case originates from an incident outside Twickenham police station in January 2023. Kerr allegedly directed a racial slur at PC Stephen Lovell following a dispute over a taxi fare. While she has pleaded not guilty, her legal team denies using the reported offensive term.

Her trial, set to begin on February 3 at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court, will last four days. Legal experts suggest negotiations with prosecutors could prevent the case from proceeding. Perth barrister Tom Percy noted that a resolution may still be reached before the trial starts.

Football Australia has refrained from commenting, citing the ongoing legal process. Kerr, recovering from an ACL injury, continues training with Chelsea. Public opinions on the case remain divided, with some dismissing the allegations as exaggerated while others stress the importance of accountability.
