Rory McIlroy has a four-word response to Jack Nicklaus, other veterans backing him to win the Masters

Rory McIlroy had a playful yet blunt response to golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson, who backed him to win the 2025 Masters. When asked about their endorsement, McIlroy quipped with a smile, “They are getting old.”

Nicklaus, a six-time Masters winner, expressed confidence in McIlroy’s chances, praising his strategic approach. He shared admiration for McIlroy’s course plan at Augusta, stating he wouldn’t change a thing. However, he noted Rory’s past lack of discipline as the main hurdle to major success.

Despite not winning a major since 2014, McIlroy remains in strong form. He ended Round 2 of the Masters tied for third, just two shots behind the leader. The 35-year-old is aiming to finally complete his career Grand Slam.
