Donald Trump Jokingly Compares PGA-LIV Deal to Russia-Ukraine Talks
President Donald Trump recently met with PGA Tour and LIV Golf officials to discuss the ongoing negotiations for a unified golf league. The meeting, attended by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, Tiger Woods, and Adam Scott, was described as “constructive.” However, Trump later humorously remarked that brokering a deal between the two golfing organizations was “much more complicated” than negotiating peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking at the White House, Trump made the lighthearted comment while addressing reporters. When asked whether the PGA-LIV deal or Russia-Ukraine peace talks were more challenging, he responded with a smile, “I think the PGA deal is much more complicated.” His remark sparked laughter in the room, highlighting the complexity of the negotiations. The comment also came nearly a year after Rory McIlroy famously referred to the ongoing PGA-LIV dispute as “golf’s civil war.”

Despite the humor, Trump remains optimistic about a resolution. During a dinner with state governors, he expressed confidence in the PGA-PIF deal, stating, “I think there’s a good chance that we’ll do that.” PGA officials, including Monahan, Woods, and Scott, later acknowledged Trump’s involvement, calling the discussions “a constructive working session.” The PGA and PIF negotiations have been ongoing for two years, with Trump playing host to multiple LIV Golf events at his golf courses in Bedminster and Miami.
