Lexi Thompson has started her first season as a part-time LPGA player with a solid performance at the Founders Cup, finishing tied for 13th. Her strong finish moved her up to 50th in the Rolex Rankings, keeping her eligible for key events in 2025. As a former Chevron Championship winner and with a top-10 finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA, she has secured spots in major tournaments, including a likely place in the U.S. Women’s Open next month.

To maintain her LPGA eligibility, Thompson must remain in the top 75 of the Rolex Rankings by March 24 for the first wave of exemptions or by May 19 for the second. However, as a Class A member, she has no minimum event requirement, allowing her flexibility in her schedule. If her CME Globe points ranking drops outside the top 100, she can rely on sponsor exemptions, playing in up to six official tournaments per season. Additionally, she can utilize the career top-20 money list category twice in her career, ensuring continued playing opportunities.

Thompson’s future in part-time competition will depend on her performance and enjoyment of the game. While she hasn’t won on the LPGA since 2019, her skill remains evident, as seen at the Founders Cup. Fellow player Stacy Lewis noted Thompson’s strong ball-striking and reduced pressure, which could help her return to the winner’s circle. Ultimately, success on the course will secure Thompson’s place in LPGA events, allowing her to extend her career on her own terms.
