Lindsey Vonn marked a historic comeback at 40, securing second place in the World Cup super-G final in Sun Valley, Idaho. She displayed her signature speed on the steep Challenger course, becoming the oldest female Alpine skier to reach a World Cup podium.

Vonn’s journey back was marked by determination, overcoming personal and physical setbacks, including a partial knee replacement. Her performance silenced critics who doubted her return. With 138 career podiums, she is one start away from equaling the women’s World Cup record and has her sights set on the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami clinched victory in 1:12.35, surpassing Vonn by 1.29 seconds and securing the season-long super-G title. Italian skier Federica Brignone placed third, finishing 1.33 seconds behind. Brignone praised Vonn’s resilience, calling her an “amazing champion” for defying expectations with her remarkable comeback.
