Lindsey Vonn has announced plans to team up with Mikaela Shiffrin for the new team combined event at the upcoming alpine skiing world championships in Austria. The partnership promises to unite two of the sport’s most successful athletes.

With a combined 181 World Cup victories, Vonn and Shiffrin aim to dominate the February 11 event in Saalbach. The format pairs one skier in downhill and the other in slalom, with times added together. Each nation can field multiple teams.

Vonn, 40, returned from retirement last month, delivering impressive performances in St. Anton. She’s optimistic about a podium finish at the championships, though her primary goal remains the 2026 Olympics in Italy.

Shiffrin, recovering from an abdominal injury, is expected to compete in the championships. Vonn expressed hope for her teammate’s readiness, highlighting the potential impact of their collaboration on the event.
