Jordan Spieth had a frustrating moment during the third round of The Players Championship, launching his club into the air after hitting his ball into the water on the 16th hole at TPC Sawgrass. The three-time major champion, who was looking to close the gap on the leaders, saw his hopes take a hit as he slid to two-under for the tournament.

The incident occurred after Spieth’s approach shot on the par-5 16th veered right and landed in the water, leading to a double-bogey. Frustrated, he flung his club in anger, stunning spectators. Spieth later explained that he hadn’t meant to let go, acknowledging that it wasn’t a good move.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy endured a challenging back nine in windy conditions, finishing four shots off the lead. Spieth’s meltdown and the deteriorating weather made for a tough day on the course, leaving the leaders, Akshay Bhatia and Min Woo Lee, in a strong position heading into the final round.
