Jordan Spieth won his first major title at the 2015 Masters and used his winnings to splash out on a luxury mansion – but he was left to regret forgetting to empty a safe in his previous home Share by Kasra Moradi 10:10 ET, May 11 2025 Jordan Spieth of the United States looks on from the third tee during a practice round prior to the 2025 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 09, 2025 Jordan Spieth claims he was extorted for his belongings after moving houses PGA Tour star Jordan Spieth swapped his $2.8 million house for a $7.1M mansion, before receiving an outlandish demand from the buyer.
Spieth, 31, clinched the first of his three major titles at the Masters in 2015. Thanks to his earnings from Augusta and winning the U.S. Open, he listed his five-bedroom, 7,000-square-foot Dallas home for sale in 2016, with the aim of upgrading. He eventually moved to an even more lavish property located in Preston Hollow, a gated community in Dallas. But the Texan made an error in leaving some personal belongings in a safe at his former property.
Shockingly, when he asked for his belongings back, Spieth alleges he was practically blackmailed by the new owner. The saga took a bizarre twist when the homeowner allegedly said he would only return the safe with its contents if Spieth handed him Masters tickets. Even had he wanted to do so, obtaining weekly badges for the Masters is no easy feat, even for a former Green Jacket winner like Spieth.
He shared the remarkable story on the eve of the 2023 Masters tournament when Adam Schupak from Golfweek quizzed several players on the weirdest Masters-related favor they’d been asked for. Spieth said: “When I moved houses in 2015, I left a few things in a safe, like my high school ring. He said he’ll return them if and only if I’d go over to their house for dinner and he could have Masters badges for the week.” He explained his cunning plan to get the new owner to hand back his possessions without providing the tickets, which left the latter furious.
Spieth continued: “I was like, ‘No, think you should just return it because it was the right thing to do’. “I think what ended up happening is I said, ‘Yeah, we’ll figure out a time to get together, could my mom just pick it up because I was out of town’. She did, and I just haven’t done anything. The guy is pretty upset. He’s left a note at our gate.” His stunning new home includes

The 10,000sqft property features five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a number of living areas, a huge dining hall, and a kitchen ready for professional chefs. Spieth, who shares the mansion with his wife Annie and their two kids, Samuel and Sophie, has converted his home into a sports-lovers paradise.

It boasts a basketball half-court and state-of-the-art golf simulator for practicing indoors. When it comes to staying fit, his home gym is stacked with equipment and includes a heavy bag. Outside, his family enjoys an infinity pool, multiple gardens, and several spots to lounge outdoors, including a fire pit.
In the year that followed the aforementioned ordeal, Spieth won his third major at The Open Championship in 2017. However, he hasn’t claimed another major since, most recently placing T14 at the 2025 Masters.
