Jordan Spieth rediscovered his winning form Thursday with a 5-under 67 in the opening round of the Valero Texas Open. The former champion’s strong start placed him in a tie for fourth, trailing leader Sam Ryder.

Playing on the tough TPC San Antonio Oaks Course, Spieth recorded just one bogey and finished with four birdies on the back nine. He called the conditions favorable and described his performance as “really solid.”

This round came near the 10-year mark of his breakout 2015 season. Spieth has since endured highs and lows, including a three-year win drought broken by his 2021 Valero victory.

Returning from wrist surgery, Spieth has shown steady improvement in 2025. With the Masters approaching, he’s focused on refining his short game and continues building momentum for Augusta.
