Renowned golf reporter Amanda Balionis revisited the moment with Spieth in a recent interview. Jokingly, she said, “If I was your wife, I’d be ready to murder you.” Spieth admitted it was the most nerve-wracking shot he’d ever taken—his caddie even suggested tossing the ball away.

Following the incident, the PGA took serious safety measures. The red hazard line was removed, and rough grass was added to discourage risky play. Spieth later reflected: “Does the reward outweigh the risk? Not if the risk is dying.”
