Jordan Spieth made a strong return to the WM Phoenix Open, showing no signs of wrist pain and looking like his old self. The three-time major champion posted a 3-under 68 in the first round, featuring impressive shot-making and clutch putting. His performance put him just two strokes behind the early leaders, Justin Thomas and Nicolai Højgaard.

Spieth’s round included a remarkable 56-foot birdie putt on the 6th hole and a near-perfect approach on the famous 16th. Despite missing some fairways, he recorded four birdies, three of which came on the back nine. He acknowledged feeling hesitant last week due to wrist pain but was able to trust his swing again.

Reflecting on his recovery, Spieth admitted to struggling with wrist discomfort at Spyglass Hill but felt much better in Scottsdale. He remains cautiously optimistic, focusing on consistent play rather than results. With his strong track record at TPC Scottsdale, another solid performance could put him in contention by Sunday.
