Thomas noted that many amateurs lack this mental clarity, often failing to plan their shots thoroughly. He advised golfers to consider the wind, course layout, and hazards before deciding on their club and shot strategy.

Thomas also suggested simple adjustments, like clubbing up if there’s trouble ahead or clubbing down when the pin is at the back. These small changes, he believes, could save amateurs five to ten strokes per round, enhancing their overall performance.
