Just a day after Rory McIlroy’s historic Masters win, Jordan Spieth’s sharp pre-tournament comments have resurfaced. Spieth suggested that Augusta National is “technically the easiest major,” implying McIlroy had underperformed for years due to pressure.

While McIlroy finally completed his career Grand Slam on his 17th attempt, Spieth hinted that the Northern Irishman could’ve won multiple Masters titles earlier. He attributed Rory’s struggles to mental pressure, rather than the difficulty of the course itself.

Spieth, a former Masters champion with an 18-under win in 2015, compared their approaches. He highlighted his own ability to contend regardless of form, emphasizing that mindset at Augusta can outweigh recent performance trends.

Despite the bold takes, Spieth also showed admiration for McIlroy’s talent, acknowledging that with a solid lead, Rory is hard to beat. McIlroy proved that on Sunday, clinching the Green Jacket in a dramatic playoff finish.
