On May 4, 2025, Jordan Spieth entered the final round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, trailing Scottie Scheffler by 13 shots. Despite the deficit, Spieth fired a 9-under 62 to finish 19-under par.

Spieth’s impressive final round wasn’t enough to catch Scheffler, who shot a 63 to win by eight shots. However, Spieth’s performance marked his lowest round on the PGA Tour in four years, a positive sign for his game.

Spieth expressed admiration for Scheffler’s success, acknowledging the Texas native’s dominance. The two share a unique relationship, as they grew up playing together, and Spieth admitted to using Scheffler’s success as motivation to improve his own game.
