Emma Raducanu has voiced her support for the extended format of ATP and WTA 1000 tournaments, which now span nearly two weeks. While critics argue that the longer events disrupt the tour schedule, Raducanu believes they offer valuable recovery time between matches, ultimately benefiting players’ performance.

The 2021 US Open champion emphasized that having a rest day allows players to recover from physically demanding matches. Following her victory over world No. 10 Emma Navarro at the Miami Open, Raducanu highlighted how the extra day off helped her recuperate, making the extended format an advantage rather than a burden.

However, not all players share her view. Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas and world No. 2 Alexander Zverev have criticized the new structure, arguing that it reduces tournament quality and increases time away from home. Despite the debate, Raducanu remains firm in her belief that the additional recovery time improves overall player well-being.
