Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth will not receive sponsor exemptions for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, barring a strong performance at the Cognizant Classic. Despite their star power, both golfers struggled in the previous season, impacting their eligibility.

Tournament officials, including Arnold Palmer’s grandson, Sam Saunders, emphasized a fair and balanced selection process, prioritizing players who best represent the event’s values.

Saunders highlighted Rafael Campos as a deserving invitee due to his passion and dedication, despite a lower profile. Spieth’s limited participation in the event and Fowler’s previous sponsor exemptions contributed to the decision. While Fowler has long been associated with Palmer’s legacy, the committee aimed for objectivity, ensuring opportunities for a broader pool of players.

Both players still have a chance to qualify through strong performances at upcoming events. Fowler and Spieth, currently ranked outside the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings, can secure a spot through the AON Next 5 list. While disappointed, Fowler acknowledged the committee’s decision and remains focused on playing his way in.
