Sam Kerr breaks silence after tragic family development

Sam Kerr has spoken out for the first time following a tragic family incident, as her 89-year-old grandmother, Coral Kerr, was struck by a car in Perth’s southeast on December 27.

While attending the wedding of her teammate Emily van Egmond in New South Wales, Sam was informed of the accident and immediately returned to Perth to be by her grandmother’s side.

Coral was hit by a ute attempting to overtake a bus near her home in Palmyra, sustaining severe injuries, including a broken femur, ankle, and hip, and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for surgery.

Although Sam was visibly shaken and requested privacy upon arriving at Perth Airport, she expressed her gratitude to her supporters via Instagram, thanking them for their love and prayers.

This incident is particularly painful for the Kerr family, as the location where Coral was hit is the same intersection where Sam’s grandfather, Denzil Kerr, was tragically killed in a similar accident 20 years ago.
