Matildas captain Sam Kerr may remain sidelined as Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor expresses uncertainty over her return. Kerr, out since January 2024 due to an ACL injury, has resumed light training but remains without a confirmed comeback date.

Despite making progress and rejoining light sessions, Kerr’s return remains doubtful for Chelsea’s final match against Manchester United on May 18. Bompastor noted that recovery varies, and there’s still no clear timeline for her full return to competition.

Kerr recently trained with the Matildas during their friendlies against South Korea but didn’t play. Her prolonged absence adds to Australia’s injury woes, following Mary Fowler’s ACL rupture. Kerr is also preparing to welcome her first child this year.
