Scottie Scheffler’s dominance in professional golf is undeniable, with multiple PGA Tour victories and over $62 million in earnings. However, golf legend Lee Trevino has expressed concerns about Scheffler’s recent putting experiments. Trevino believes that altering his grip and putter choice could disrupt his consistency, potentially affecting his performance in upcoming tournaments.

During a Golf Channel interview at The Players Championship, Trevino highlighted his concerns, referencing Scheffler’s switch to the claw grip and TaylorMade Spider mallet putter. He noted that even after an incredible season, Scheffler continues to experiment, which “scares” him. Despite this, Scheffler remains a strong contender, recently securing a third-place finish at the Genesis Invitational.

Scheffler’s 2025 season has been challenging due to a hand injury, yet he continues to perform well in major tournaments. He has competed in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, WM Phoenix Open, and Arnold Palmer Invitational, consistently placing among the top players. With the Masters approaching, all eyes will be on whether his putting adjustments enhance or hinder his game.
